Frequently Asked Questions About Our Grooming Services

Our pet grooming team receives a number of common questions about our grooming and bathing services. For your convenience, we've taken the time to answer a few of the most frequently asked questions below.

What Can I Expect from My Pet's Grooming Appointment?

What to expect from your pet's appointment will vary depending on the specific grooming services your pet is having done. However, you can generally expect to drop your pet off with us, and we'll give you a call when your pet is ready to come home. This is because many of our grooming services take some time, especially if you're having your pet bathed. Of course, you are also welcome to wait in our office while your pet receives his or her grooming care.

What Specific Grooming Services Do You Offer?

Our experienced pet grooming team is able to offer just about any services you can imagine. Baths and trims are a couple of the most common grooming services we provide, though we also perform nail trims to keep your pet's nails at a safe length. If your pet has longer fur that is in need of trimming, we can also perform this in our office.

How Do I Know if My Dog Needs Anal Gland Expression?

Most dogs should have their anal glands expressed once or twice a year; otherwise, they can become clogged and/or infected. You can also tell your dog may need this service if he or she is constantly licking the area or dragging his or her bottom across the floor.

Testimonials

Feedback from our clients

  • "I have been taking my 16 year old lab, Oscar, to this vet since he came to me in 2004, and I wouldn't take any of my dogs anywhere else! They are so wonderful with both pets and people. I would recommend any of the doctors and staff to anyone."

  • "We have been going to another vet for years. We wanted to have our year old Wheaten Terrier, Rylee spayed by laparoscopy so she would have less pain and be back to her usual activity in 2-3 days instead of 10-14 days. Our vet does the traditional spay. We had a consult meet and greet with Dr. Courtney Pierce. She answered all our questions and so friendly and professional. They have a state of the art OR suite. Rylee did great. On post op day three she spotted a squirrel and did an all out chase with no ill effects! All the staff were great."

  • "I love Dr. Jernigan at AHLB and would never take my dog anywhere else! The staff is excellent with animals and always professional, courteous and respectful to owners. I have trusted this animal hospital for all of my dog's care, including check ups, surgeries (she's had three!) and for boarding when we have to go out of town. Every experience I have had here has been wonderful and I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a veterinary office for their furry children!."
