Meet the friendly staff at The Animal Hospital at Lake Brandt!

Veterinary Assistant
Emily has had a passion for animal care ever since her early days growing up in Greensboro, North Carolina. For her, helping pets to lead better lives—and making their owners happy in the process—is simply the ultimate reward! Emily is proud to serve the area’s pets and animal parents as a Veterinary Assistant with The Animal Hospital at Lake Brandt team.

Emily was only 15 years old when her path in veterinary medicine began—it was then that she started working as a Kennel Assistant. She secured her Associate’s degree in animal care and management from Alamance Community College in 2012, and also holds numerous animal-care certifications in everything from laboratory technology and shelter care to animal husbandry and facility management. Emily joined the team here at The Animal Hospital of Lake Brandt in the spring of 2017. She serves the area’s pets as a Veterinary Assistant, and never tires of seeing a happy, healthy pet leave the hospital with a wagging tail. She’s also passionate about humane end-of-life care and proper client education. Outside of work, Emily enjoys camping, fishing, horseback riding, and spending quality time with her family. She and her husband, Tim, have two beautiful daughters named Kaylee and Taylor. The household is rounded out by multiple pets: the family has a pair of loveable dogs, Melvin and Chance; three cats who go by Boots, Chloe, and Cammi; and a bearded dragon named To

Feedback from our clients

  • "I have been taking my 16 year old lab, Oscar, to this vet since he came to me in 2004, and I wouldn't take any of my dogs anywhere else! They are so wonderful with both pets and people. I would recommend any of the doctors and staff to anyone."

  • "We have been going to another vet for years. We wanted to have our year old Wheaten Terrier, Rylee spayed by laparoscopy so she would have less pain and be back to her usual activity in 2-3 days instead of 10-14 days. Our vet does the traditional spay. We had a consult meet and greet with Dr. Courtney Pierce. She answered all our questions and so friendly and professional. They have a state of the art OR suite. Rylee did great. On post op day three she spotted a squirrel and did an all out chase with no ill effects! All the staff were great."

  • "I love Dr. Jernigan at AHLB and would never take my dog anywhere else! The staff is excellent with animals and always professional, courteous and respectful to owners. I have trusted this animal hospital for all of my dog's care, including check ups, surgeries (she's had three!) and for boarding when we have to go out of town. Every experience I have had here has been wonderful and I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a veterinary office for their furry children!."
